"Praise Him," from his given name Mukudzeyi. Born 4 July 1987 in Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe, Mashonaland East.
The Story
Jah Prayzah is a Zimbabwean contemporary musician and the lead member of the Third Generation band. Raised in rural Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe and schooled at Musamhi before completing his O and A-levels in Harare, he built a sound that fuses traditional Zimbabwean music and mbira with Afrobeat, reggae and zimdancehall. Over a 20-year career and 14+ albums, he has become one of the most decorated artists in Southern Africa, and to his fans, simply Wagwizi.
His fans call themselves the Wagwizi; his band is the 3G Band, the Third Generation.
The Timeline
